It is not obligatory to
take a souvenir to somebody you visit. However, if you wish to take
a gift to somebody, something from your country will be welcomed.
When handing over souvenir, expressions such as “〜のおみやげです” (“this
is a souvenir from 〜”) are used by. “つまらないものですが” (“It is nothing much
but......”) is not frequently used by Japanese speakers nowadays.
When receiving a souvenir, the recipient says “ありがとうございます” (“thank
you”). The package will not opened at this time. |
